Beer Birthday Cake!

You will need:
**BEER**
Cardboard
Ribbon
Letters to spell out name (optional)
Spray paint (optional)

NOTE: I brought the separate pieces of this to my boyfriends house and assembled it there bcause I didn't want to deal with transport or attempting to glue beer cans to pieces of cardboard. That didn't seem like any fun. So I assembled this entire thing at my place, then took it apart. That way I knew the exact size of the ribbon I needed, etc.

For my "cake" I decided to go with a layer of 10 cans beers on the bottom, 8 in the middle, and 6 bottles of beer on the top. You can vary this depending on how big you want the cake to be (and how much money you want to spend)

Once I decided on the size of the layers, I laid out the 10 cans of beer that were for the bottom level in a circle onto a piece of cardboard I cut off a cardboard box, and traced around the circle.  Then, I did the same with the 8 cans for the middle.  These circles will go on top of the respective levels, for the next level to sit on.

Since cardboard isn't very pretty, I decided to spray paint my cardboard pieces silver to match the accent color on the cans. You could probably also paint them or something too, or just leave them the cardboard color!

I purchased the letters to spell out "KYLE" for like 20 cents each from a crafts store. It was hard to find ones that weren't super glittery or girly looking... Which is also why I chose a silver ribbon that wasn't sparkly at all- because this is a MAN CAKE.

I brought some tape with me to secure the ribbons together in the back. You could also pre-glue them or something and the slip the beers in, but tape seemed easiest to me. I did hot-glue the bow on top to one of the beer bottles ahead of time.

I personally like the look of the tall beer cans on top- they remind me of candles!

Needless to say, the cake was a BIG HIT with not only the boyfriend, but also all the other men at the party. :)
